President's Message

President's Message

First and foremost, I certainly want to thank all the people who helped with the DESC Fall 2006 Tournament over the past weekend. I am sincerely sorry it had to rain on Sunday but at least Saturday had terrific weather. I want to personally give special recognition to a few of these folks.

  • Keith Barnes – WYSA President
  • Richard Frazier – Wilson Recreation and Parks Department
  • Scott Benson – DESC Treasurer
  • Paul LoRusso – WYSA Referee Assignor
  • Wesley Beddard – Washington Riptides

I also want to thank all the coaches, managers, parents and players for a terrific season of soccer. I had the chance to meet and talk with many of you and learned much about youth soccer opportunities in our region. I now have an even stronger belief that youth soccer in eastern North Carolina will continue to grow, particularity with the type of community spirit that was demonstrated.

The next order of business is the Fall 2006 final standings and results. They are as follows:

U-10 Coed Cardinal

  • Regular Season Champion – RVYSA Black
  • DESC Tournament Winner, Group A – RVYSA Black
  • DESC Tournament Winner, Group B – WYSA Black

U-10 Coed Dogwood

  • DESC Tournament Winner, Group A – RVYSA Gold
  • DESC Tournament Winner, Group B – Kinston Green

U-14 Coed

  • DESC Tournament Winner – WYSA

U-14 Girls

  • Regular Season Champion – Southport
  • DESC Tournament Winner – Southport

Please remember that the Beast of the East Tournament will be held in Greenville on the weekend of February 3rd and 4th. I would encourage all DESC teams to play in area tournaments. There will be local “talent”, as well as the opportunity to play teams from around the state. The DESC Board will be meeting within the next month to discuss the Spring 2007 season. That said, our Spring season will most likely begin on February 17th. As was done last year, this will be a shorter season and teams will be playing two matches on a given weekend. Again, I want to thank everyone for your support of our efforts. Please check the DESC website regularly for updates and new features. I know that the DESC Board sincerely wishes that you and your family have a terrific holiday season. Take care and see you on the pitch!

Bill Mallett
DESC President
